Celebrate the Big Band sounds of New England with Dan Gabel and The Abletones-an authentic 18-piece Big Band whose reputation is "one of the best bands in New England." At "Homesick for New England," you'll be dancing in the Great Hall and participating as the live audience for recording The Abletones' next album!
The Abletones swing orchestra is a life-long dream of Webster native Dan Gabel and drummer Jim Gancarz with rhythm guitarist/band manager Bill Doyle. Band leader Gabel recently spent a year on world-tour with The Glenn Miller Orchestra. Dan was trombonist, soloist, arranger, and band historian. Dan Gabel and The Abletones are the "real deal"-a Big Band that looks and sounds just like the Bands that thrilled American audiences in the 1930s and 40s, bringing to the stage a fresh and unique sound. Their first album, Yes Indeed, met with great critical acclaim when it was released in December 2010. Veterans of the Mechanics Hall/WICN Brown Bag Concert Series, The Abletones' performances include Jazz at Sunset and the Memorial Hall in Melrose....
